GTA 6 Release Date: Everything We Know Going Into November 19, 2026
Few games have had a release date saga like Grand Theft Auto 6. What was originally aimed at Fall 2025 has moved twice, and Rockstar has now committed — with an actual public apology — to a final date.
The confirmed date
GTA 6 is set to release on November 19, 2026. Rockstar confirmed the date directly, and in a move that’s unusual for the studio, paired the announcement with an apology to fans for the wait: “these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”
How we got here
The game’s release window has moved twice. It was originally positioned for Fall 2025, then pushed to May 2026, and has now landed on its third and — Rockstar says — final date in November 2026. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed there will be no further delay beyond this point.
Each delay has followed the same pattern: Rockstar citing the need for additional polish rather than pointing to a specific production problem, which — given the studio’s track record with Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V — is a trade a lot of fans seem willing to accept, even after two rounds of it.
What’s confirmed for launch
GTA 6 will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. There is currently no official PC release date — Rockstar has historically released GTA titles on console first and PC later, and nothing so far suggests 2026 will break that pattern.
What’s still unknown
Marketing for the game begins in summer 2026, with a third trailer and a wider promotional campaign still to come as of this writing. Beyond that, Rockstar has kept its usual tight grip on details — pricing, a PC release window, and deeper gameplay specifics are all still unconfirmed heading into the second half of the year.
Given the game’s scale and the industry’s current climate — see our piece on 2026’s record-revenue, record-layoffs paradox — GTA 6’s performance this November is likely to be one of the single biggest data points for the industry’s health going into 2027.
Want to know what else is competing for attention this year? Nintendo Switch 2 has quietly had a huge 2026, and the console GTA 6 skips — PC — is still without a confirmed release window at all.
